Around the World

Was there ever a place that you wanted to go
A sandy white beach or a mountain with snow
Well, we can go anywhere that you want to be
Just pack your bags and come along with me

I'll take you 'round the world, and as we roam
Through different habitats and climatic zones
We'll meet animals and make new friends
I wonder what's coming up around the bend

Grab your passport as we go forth
To start in the tundra way up north
Low-lying plants and frozen ground
Where caribou and polar bears are found

Grasslands are found both south and north
Of all the world's land they're about one fourth
With plenty of grass and very few trees
Foxes and rhinos are quite at ease

I'll take you 'round the world, and as we roam
Through different habitats and climatic zones
We'll meet animals and make new friends
I wonder what's coming up around the bend

I'll take you 'round the world, and as we roam
Through different habitats and climatic zones
We'll meet animals and make new friends
I wonder what's coming up around the bend

On to the desert, that's our next stop
With very little rain, it sure can get hot
To live here, you better have what it takes
Like the roadrunner, camel, and rattlesnake

If the desert's too dry, and you like it wet
Then a tropical rain forest's your best bet
It rains more than a hundred inches a year
Parrots, monkeys, and agoutis live here

I'll take you 'round the world, and as we roam
Through different habitats and climatic zones
We'll meet animals and make new friends
I wonder what's coming up around the bend

Yeah, we'll go around the world, and as we roam
Through different habitats and climatic zones
We'll meet animals and make new friends
Who knows what's coming up around the bend

Talk with the Animals

If I could talk with the animals
And listen to what they had to say
Then I would talk with the animals
And walk right up and say to them, “G'day!”

If I could talk with a lion
With his mane and claws and teeth galore
Then I would talk with a lion
And ask him what it is that makes him roar

If I could talk with a wolf
And go with him when he's on the prowl
Then I would talk with a wolf
And ask him what it is that makes him howl

If I could talk with an elephant
I'd shake her trunk, and say to her, “Hello!”
Then I would talk with an elephant
And ask her why she makes her trumpet blow

If I could talk with the animals
And listen to what they had to say
Then I would talk with the animals
And walk right up and say to them, “G'day!”

If I could talk with a panda
With fur that's black and white and looks so sweet
Then I would talk with a panda
And ask her what it is that makes her bleat

If I could talk with a siamang
Now there's a guy who sure knows how to swing
Then I would talk with a siamang
And ask him what it is that makes him sing

If I could talk with a koala
That Australian cute and cuddly fellow
Then I would talk with a koala
And ask him what it is that makes him bellow

If I could talk with the animals
And listen to what they had to say
Then I would talk with the animals
And walk right up and say to them

And walk right up and say to them
And walk right up and say to them, “G'day!”

Recycling's Cool!

Would you wear a shirt once and then throw it away
Well, that's what people are doing today
I don't really mean shirts, or pants, or shoes
But paper and aluminum that we can reuse

Recycling's cool
Don't be a fool
Well, we gotta use less and not make such a mess
We're gonna lose it if we don't reuse it

You probably know a tree is where paper comes from
And wasting more trees, hey, that's really dumb
Trees aren't only pretty to see
They produce oxygen; we need that to breathe

And what about the critters that live in the trees
I bet they'd all say, “Don't take our homes, please!”
If we recycle paper that we've got
You know that would help Mother Nature a lot

Recycling's cool
Don't be a fool
Well, we gotta use less and not make such a mess
We're gonna lose it if we don't reuse it

Now let's talk about that aluminum can
Don't throw it away, recycle it, man
Aluminum's great, so convenient and light
It's made from a mineral called bauxite

And just where is that bauxite found
Well, that's right, my friends, it's in the rain forest ground
We already have aluminum galore
So let's recycle what we've got, and not dig up any more

Recycling's cool
Don't be a fool
Well, we gotta use less and not make such a mess
We're gonna lose it if we don't reuse it

I hope you like my recycling song
Listen just once and you'll be singing along
Most important, here's my message to you
Reduce, reuse, recycle, it's what we should do 'cause

Recycling's cool
Don't be a fool
Well, we gotta use less and not make such a mess
We're gonna lose it if we don't reuse it

The Legend of Colossus Proboscis

There was a lone cowboy, who roamed through the west
And here's how his story goes
Feared near and far, though not for his gun
But rather the size of his nose

Colossus Proboscis was how he was known
By that, and no other name
Feared and jeered by all whom he met
He wandered alone and in shame

What cruel trick of fate had given him this face
A schnoz of such length and girth
Like an elephant's trunk, enormous and strong
He was soon to discover its worth

Colossus Proboscis rode into a town
Expecting the usual stares
Just then he paused, and raised up his head
That's when he smelled smoke on the air

While deadly brushfire raged toward the town
“Help us, for goodness sake!”
The townspeople cried. Our hero turned 'round
And galloped toward a nearby lake

Colossus Proboscis knelt down at the shore
And drew the lake into his snout
He rode back to town, and with one mighty blow
The dangerous fire was out

Colossus Proboscis was hailed by the town
And here is the moral true
Don't make fun of those who appear a bit odd
They're just as important as you

Don't make fun of those who appear a bit odd
They're just as important as you

Mento and Rocky

This is story 'bout Mento
An iguana from Jamaica land
A curious boy, he wanted to know 'bout
Things he did not understand

So he left his home in Jamaica
To wander and find some fun
He found his cousin, Rocky Chuckwalla
In the California sun

The cousins got to talking
Rocky asked, “How have you been?”
Mento replied, “I'm very endangered.”
He sighed and lowered his fin

Mento and Rocky
Have a message for you
They're gonna show ya'
What young people can do

Rocky said to Mento
“There's something that you should see.”
They traveled a ways, and came to a schoolyard
Where students were planting a tree

Mento smiled when he saw
The students' helping hands
That native tree would help native critters
Living in that land

Mento and Rocky
Have a message for you
They're gonna show ya'
What young people can do

Just then one of the students
Saw the iguanas there
She pointed them out to all of classmates
And they all stopped and stared

But none of them came over
They respected the wildlife
The children all knew to leave them alone
And not cause them worry and strife

Mento and Rocky
Have a message for you
They're gonna show ya'
What young people can do

Mento turned to Rocky
“It's time for me to head home.
“But rest assured, I'll share what I've learned,
“No matter where I might roam.”

He returned to Jamaica
And he shared his message there
He showed them all, especially the children
How easy it is to care

Mento and Rocky
Have a message for you
They're gonna show ya'
What young people can do

The Conservation Blues

You hear people talking 'bout the environment on the skids
You say, “What can I do? After all, I'm just a kid.”
Well, listen right here, to this song I have for you
I'm gonna rhyme some things that you can do

This is advice you can use
If we all do our part
We'll kick those conservation blues

There're plenty of ways that kids can help a bunch
When you go to school, take a waste-free lunch
That means no baggies, or paper to throw away
Reusable containers, hey why not start today

We have no excuse
If we all do our part
We'll kick those conservation blues

You've heard me singing 'bout how recycling's cool
Protects the environment, raises money for your school
Reuse materials, 'stead of dumpin' in landfills
Turn glass and aluminum into crisp new dollar bills

Wildlife and wild places we can't afford to lose
If we all do our part
We'll kick those conservation blues

I've been 'round the world's habitats and climatic zones
And learned San Diego is the desert I call home
Desert or rainforest, saving water, that's the key
Turn off the faucet when brushin' dishes or your teeth

“I'm just one person, what can I do?”
If we all do our part
We'll kick those conservation blues

I hear people asking me, “Wild Wes,
“I'm just one person, tell me now, what can I do?”
When we all do our part
We'll kick those conservation blues

The Vertebrate Classifications Song

A mammal's blood is warm
They have hair or fur
They breathe with lungs
And they give live birth
They nurse their young
The only ones that do
Most live on land
And I'm a mammal, too

A bird's blood is warm
They breathe air with lungs
They're covered with feathers
An egg is what they hatch from
Most live on land
Or near the ocean blue
I think it'd be neat
To be a birdie, too

Reptiles have scales
And some have legs
They breathe air with lungs
They hatch from eggs
Their blood is cold
So they lie in the sun
Most live on land
Doesn't that sound fun

Amphibians
Have lots of fun
They have slimy skin
Some have gills and lungs
They all lay eggs
And their blood is cold
Live on water and land
Something to behold

All fish have scales
They respire with gills
Most fish lay eggs
Oh what a thrill
Their blood is cold
That much is true
I think it'd be neat
To go swimming too

Turn It Loose

There's a new way of thinking we have to embrace
An old way of living we have to replace
A future is coming that we have to face
Choices we make affect the whole human race

It's out with the old, and in with the new
You've got the power, believe me it's true
It's time to rethink what we thought we knew
Bring others the message, show them what to do…and

Turn it loose, set it free
We'll make a difference, wait and see
Turn it loose, let it fly
We'll work together, you and I
Throw away that tired excuse
And turn it loose

There's too much stuff we just throw away
Our disposable world, it's easier they say
But when it is gone, where will the animals play
If you ask me, that price is too high to pay

The footprint we leave, it's cause and effect
It's Mother Nature we want to protect
But what are we doing? Hey, with all due respect
It's time for a change, it's time to reflect…and

Turn it loose, set it free
We'll make a difference, wait and see
Turn it loose, let it fly
We'll work together, you and I
Throw away that tired excuse
And turn it loose

Changing habits
At first feels kind of strange
But inside us all
Is the power to change

I know that you know what I'm talking about
Everybody can do it, beyond any doubt
The old way of thinking, that's what we should throw out
Look toward the future, let me hear you shout

Turn it loose, set it free
We'll make a difference, wait and see
Turn it loose, let it fly
We'll work together, you and I

Turn it loose, set it free
We'll make a difference, wait and see
Turn it loose, let it fly
We'll work together, you and I
Throw away that tired excuse
And turn it loose…turn it loose…

Funny Looking

I went to the zoo, and what did I see
A lot of funny looking animals laughing at me
So remember next time that you visit the zoo
The critters might think you're funny looking too

Echidna just laughed when he saw me there
“How are you gonna live without your spiny hair?
“Your back's not protected; not very bright.
“It's a very tempting target for a predator to bite.”

Armadillo agreed with what Echidna said
“Don't leave your back open, what you need instead
“To protect yourself when under attack
“Is a nice hard shell that you carry your back.”

I went to the zoo, and what did I see
A lot of funny looking animals laughing at me
So remember next time that you visit the zoo
The critters might think you're funny looking too

Giraffe and Okapi eating their leaves said
“Looking at you, we know what you need.
“Your scrawny little tongue, well that's just wrong.
“You need one like ours that's eighteen inches long!”

Even the birds were getting on my case
When I laughed at a stork with a spoon on his face
He said, “Go ahead and laugh, Mr. Funny Guy,
“But you shouldn't be laughing since you can't even fly!”

I went to the zoo, and what did I see
A lot of funny looking animals laughing at me
So remember next time that you visit the zoo
The critters might think you're funny looking too

I'd had about enough of this disrespect
But visiting the bugs, what did I expect
The Wolf Spider scoffed and to my surprise
Said, “Look at this guy, he's only got two eyes!”

Not to be outdone, Mr. Millipede
With his friend Mr. Spider mockingly agreed
“Two eyes, that's nothing, I've got you beat.
“This funny looking guy has only two feet!”

Well, I went to the zoo, and what did I see
A lot of funny looking animals laughing at me
So remember next time that you visit the zoo
The critters might think you're funny looking too

Save the World

All across the Earth
Mother Nature cries out loud
Some of us will answer
But first we ask her how

We've got so many problems
We don't know where to start
The best place to begin
Is to look inside your heart

Find the love inside
And let it fly unfurled
That is what it takes
To save the world

We'll save what we love
And what is in our thoughts
We love what we understand
And understand what we are taught

We all can be the teachers
And show others how to care
If we lead with our example
We'll save this place that we all share

Find the love inside
And let it fly unfurled
That is what it takes
To save the world

Find the love inside
And let it fly unfurled
That is how you'll know
You can save the world
